LG 55" OLED55BX6LB 4K Ultra HD Television

LG 2020 range OLED55BX6 55" Ultra High definition OLED Television with Alpha 7 Gen 3 processor, ThinQ AI and Dolby Atmos.

With all the different types of HDR content from various sources & providers, it can get confusing, The great news is the LG 2020 range OLED55BX6 supports them all.

When we are demonstrating instore we often get asked what do the HDR formats do and what are the differences between them, below you will see an explanation of each of the main formats.

The only HDR format applied with the human eye, Dolby Vision HDR uses dynamic metadata to provide frame-by-frame analysis of the content to ensure the best picture quality is shown on screen throughout. 2020 LG OLED and 2020 NanoCell models support Dolby Vision HDR Apple and Netflix have committed to providing much of their 4K content in Dolby Vision HDR so any new TV really does need to support this format!

This format of HDR uses no metadata, however, this allows the content to be broadcast live from the event in the users home! This is the format of choice for the BBC and they have successfully trailed content from Planet Earth and Blue Planet in 4K HDR as well as sporting events such as the World Cup, Wimbledon and the FA Cup final.

HDR10 is the most common HDR format available, but only uses static metadata, Consoles like the X Box and Playstation 4 Pro uses HDR10 for gaming and streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime also use this format for some of their UHD content.

The LG OLED55BX6 has the new Alpha 7 Gen 3 processor but what does it actually do? the processor is a vital part of any TV and a good processor can make the difference between a good picture and a poor one, the Alpha 7 processor using clever algorithms does 5 main things to the image, cleans and smoothes it, sharpens, makes objects appear clear by adjusting the contrast and depth, the colour enhancer produces vivid colour and lastly colour mapping to reproduce the colour true to life.

LG has changed the home screen for the 2020 range of TV this new user interface is called the Dashboard, the new menu has a live picture screen so if you are watching the TV when you press the menu button you can carry on, the new menu also shows what devices are connected such as a USB stick or Bluetooth device, The OLED55BX6 can also connect to other smart devices such as Philips hue lighting or your LG washing machine.

For gamers having the best displays to play on is very important, For many years this has been a market where only dedicated gaming monitors were up to the job but now many of the features only previously seen on monitors have become available on LG OLED TVís making them ideal for gamers. LG OLED TVís are the only TVís that feature both G-Sync and Freesync connections giving better communication between the console and the TV.
